If Corner Pocket was a Minion

For this assignment I had to any person or thing and put a cartoon head over it. Of course I’m going to choose a picture of myself because who else would I choose?? I mean I’m Johnny Corner Pocket McCormick of course I’m going to choose me!  But I must say, Despicable Me is a great movie. One of the best in my opinion. So it was a no brainer that I was going to put a minion over my face. I look pretty good if I do say so myself.

I edited this in photoshop (masking tool with black and white filter)

Lenny's Business Card

For the last assignment I collaborated with Jack Eaton on, we decided to do a business card. Our two characters have a really good story going and so I thought it would be fun to do a Lenny’s Hitman Service Business card. The business card was created in photoshop. We started with a 5×3 blank canvas and then used the paint bucket tool to make it black. We then pulled a typical noir photo from good and placed in on the page. I blended the edges of the picture to the black canvas to give it a better look. Then used the text tool on photoshop to add the name and the number.

Johnny Corner Pocket McCormick found this business card in an alley the night after he finished doing the talk show Inside Talking Lena Meyers. This was also the same night El Jota stole the love of his life, Lena Meyers from him. Johnny called Lenny’s Hitman Service in hopes that he can kill El Jota evidence free! Johnny Corner Pocket isn’t trying to take a charge!

2 stars.

The Skinny on Johnny Corner Pocket

I chose the create your own character assignment but since I have already created a character I’m going to expand on Johnny “Corner Pocket” McCormick’s life and what his life is looking like now. I inclued Jack Eaton’s character, El Jota in this and collaborated with him the story of the two characters. First, here are Corner Pocket’s interests and characteristics.

Appearance: Johnny is a tall, slender man with brown eyes. He is approximately 6 feet tall and weighs around 170 pounds. He has short, dark hair and always slicks it to the side. Johnny has some sort of facial hair on him at all times and is never clean-shaven. When he doesn’t have a toothpick hanging out of his mouth, he’ll have a cigarette to replace it. His clothes are rather raggedy but always find’s a way to make it look good. Johnny is a ladies man; the girls (Lena Meyers) love his style, his hair, and his swagger.

Likes: Corner Pocket has two main loves, billiards and money. Nothing gets him more excited than playing a great game of pool and winning a lot of money from. Johnny was never into having flings with any girls until going on the talk show Inside Talking with Lena Meyers. He fell madly in love with her from the first time he laid eyes on her.

Dislikes: El Jota for taking the love of his life from him and losing money.

Personality: Johnny is very cocky and very into himself. He thinks he is the best at everything he does. He does not lose and when he does lose he is a sore loser. He hates losing money. That is why he only gambles with counterfeit money. Johnny loves talking in third person because he loves hearing his own name. He is the life of the party.

Place in the world: Johnny is an only child. He hasn’t seen his father in over 10 years and does not get along with his mother. Johnny lives with a friend from high school in Boston where he has lived his entire life. Johnny was pursuing moving to Las Vegas but has now turned his sight to winning over the love of his life Lena Meyers.

Johnny Corner Pocket McCormick has hired Lenny’s Hitman Service to take out El Jota for stealing the woman of his dreams, Lena Meyers. El Jota and Lena are now married and Corner Pocket will do whatever it takes to destroy El Jota. Johnny laid eyes on Lena first and then El Jota stole her from him. Johnny has put his billiards career and moving to Las Vegas on the back burner to fix what El Jota ruined.

This assignment was worth 5 stars.

Lena Meyers <3

This digital assignment was to create a valentine card. Jota Dinero just got married on Inside Talking’s live radio show. Its more than appropriate to give your wife a homemade valentine card. Johnny “Corner Pocket” McCormick is not too thrilled about this whole situation. Johnny also made a card for his love and hopes for the best. Jack and I found a generic valentine day card and imported it to photoshop. We first got Christine Loehr’s permission to use “Lena Meyers” face for the card. We lassoed her face out (that sounds awful) and placed it in the heart. We blurred the edges to add a nice effect too. We then used the text tool to add our personal message… My message is from the heart unlike whatever Jota’s message is… I wonder what he said in his card…?

Corner Pocket’s Theme Song

For this audio assignment worth 4 stars, I had to make a theme song. I decided to use a theme song for my character Johnny Corner Pocket McCormick instead of doing one for myself. In this audio, it starts off by Johnny picking up a pool stick and putting some chalk on it. The intro music fades in and then breaks all the balls to signal the pool game has begun. The song would be perfect back ground music for one of Corner Pockets heated pool matches (and yes, pool matches can get heated). The instrumental I used is from Drake’s song called “Trophies”

I pulled the chalking the pool stick and the break sounds from and found the instrumental on YouTube.

Johnny’s Life in Two Minutes

For this audio assignment, I had to record a two minute significant event or problem in my life. So instead of talking about my life, I decided to do a recording of my character Johnny “Corner Pocket” McCormick. Johnny talks about how he got the nickname Corner Pocket and how he fell in love with the game of pool. Johnny then talks about how he wants to move to Las Vegas to continue his billiards career. Corner Pocket also describes the hardships with his family. His father left the family and he does not get along with his mom so he has to make a living for himself.

I recorded this in Audacity and did some minor editing as well. I picture Johnny having a high pitched voice than I do so I edited my voice to make it sound higher.

Party Up, Jump Around

For this audio assignment, I did a music mashup for 3.5 stars. My music mashup consisted of two songs, “Party Up” by DMX and “Jump Around” by House of Pain. I chose these two old school hip hop songs because of their fast beats. They are songs you just can’t help but move to! I edited everything in Audacity and already had the music in my iTunes, so I just pulled them from there. I didn’t load the song into Sound Cloud because I was afraid they would take it down due to copyright. Hope you guys enjoy it!
